Kristin Evihan was born in beautiful Istanbul in 1974. She has graduated from Bilkent University with a major in Tourism & Hotel Management. After having worked in different fields, she has listened her inner voice and attended Beykoz Glass Furnace workshop in 2003 to learn glass bead making, and thus begun her designing story. As soon as finishing the course in Beykoz, she rented a small atelier/shop in one of historical place in Istanbul, Cukurcuma and started designing her own style of art. She has attended several short term courses such as Lost Wax & Resin by Catalina Brenes and Color on Metal by Anastasia Kandaraki at Maden Contemporary Jewellery Studio.
All her creative endeavors have come together to form her unique vision and aesthetic, characterized by tension between rough and refined, primitive and modern, ultimately paring things down to their essence. Each piece has been carved in wax and finalized by Kristin, all handcrafted by herself. The new collection ‘Reborn’ is primitive, yet modern in style with rough organic shapes. She also continues her lampworked faces, combining with silver components at her lovely atelier/shop in Cukurcuma.
